Four Days of Festival in the Franconian Tuscany

The Schammelsdorfer Biertage is the largest Volksfest (traditional festival) in the so-called Franconian Tuscany — the gently rolling landscape south of Bamberg, part of the Franconian Jura, with its vineyards, scattered orchards, and medieval village centers. Schammelsdorf is part of the municipality of Litzendorf in the Bamberg district, and the sports club's Volksfest attracts thousands of visitors from Bamberg, Forchheim, the Steigerwald, and the entire region to the small village every year.

Over 40 Years of Tradition

The Biertage have been organized by TSV Schammelsdorf 1924 e.V. as the sports club's own festival since the early 1980s. It is now celebrating its 43rd edition (2026) and is known far beyond the Bamberg district. All proceeds go towards the youth and club activities of TSV — a rare setup that distinguishes the festival from commercial large-scale events.

Knoblach — The Festival Brewery Since 1880

The Festbier (festival beer) is brewed especially for the Biertage each year by the Knoblach Schammelsdorf Brewery, a small family brewery that has been based in the village since 1880. Knoblach is one of the last classic village breweries in Franconia and enjoys cult status among beer connoisseurs. The Festbier is smooth, hop-forward, and only available during the four festival days.

Program Structure Over Four Days

The festival weekend begins on Whitsun Friday with the tapping of the first keg and an opening band concert (most recently: »Come Together« with rock classics). Whitsun Saturday is dedicated to the famous Mallorca Party — Schlager hits, Ballermann atmosphere, and thousands of guests. Whitsun Sunday is Family Day: in the morning, a children's bazaar with a bouncy castle and face painting; in the evening, Alpine rock and folk music (most recently: »Almrocker«). On Whitsun Monday, the traditional Classic Car Meet takes place — no registration, no entry fee, all classics welcome. In the evening, Franconian brass music is played (most recently: »Wickendorfer«).

Schammelsdorf, Litzendorf, and the Club Landscape

Schammelsdorf is one of the districts of the municipality of Litzendorf and is located northeast of Bamberg. The municipality belongs to the Bamberg district and is part of the wine-growing Franconian Tuscany. TSV Schammelsdorf 1924 e.V. is one of the largest clubs in the municipality, with a broad range of activities including football, table tennis, gymnastics, and a ski division — the Biertage are its most important source of income and the social highlight of the club year.
