Kirwa in one of the oldest communities in the Bamberg region

Königsfeld, the easternmost community in the Bamberg district and one of the oldest in the region, celebrates its Jakobi-Kirchweih annually in honor of the church patron St. Jakobus. The Kirwa is firmly anchored in the Franconian customs calendar and brings the entire village together.

Customs and Programme

The highlight is the raising of the festival tree on Saturday afternoon in front of the town hall, accompanied by the Blaskapelle Aufseßtal, which carries the tree through the village together with the volunteer fire department. On Sunday morning, the festive church service takes place in the St. Jakobus church, followed by a devotion in the afternoon. DJK Königsfeld organises football matches, while the Opelfreunde-Königsfeld e.V. organises the children's programme with a bouncy castle and torchlight procession.

Sociability and Franconian Cuisine

Haxen (pork knuckles) and Franconian specialities are served at the Gasthof Drei Kronen. Musical entertainment and a small amusement park in the town centre complete the festival – a short but intense Kirchweih full of tradition.
