60th anniversary edition of the traditional town festival in Buckow Castle Park — June 12th to 14th, 2026
Buckow is a small spa town with just under 1,500 inhabitants in the heart of the Märkische Schweiz Nature Park, about an hour's drive east of Berlin. Bertolt Brecht and Helene Weigel spent their summers here from 1952 onwards; the Brecht-Weigel House commemorates the town's connection to the great names of GDR literature. The townscape is characterized by hills, small lakes (Schermützelsee, Buckowsee, Griepensee), the castle park, and the late Gothic town church. In June, Buckow belongs to the roses — and the Rose Days.
The Rose Days have been celebrated since the 1960s. 2026 marks the 60th edition — a true anniversary for a continuously growing festival tradition, supported by Buckow's clubs, the fire department, the marksmen, the Buckow-Waldsieversdorf brass band, and of course, the town itself. The Buckow Rose is at the center: the Rose Queen is crowned, the castle park blooms in rose splendor, and a traditional parade winds through the old town. All the elements of a classic Brandenburg town festival are grouped around this: a festival tent with live music and dancing, catering, and interactive activities for children, sports competitions.
The 60th edition will be celebrated with particular festivity. Friday's opening includes the inauguration with the Rose Queen and the mayor, followed by the traditional cannon shot by the Buckow marksmen. Live music and a tent party will go late into the night. Saturday's program features a football tournament, interactive theatre, cabaret, and the popular Rose Queen quiz. Sunday begins with the ecumenical service, followed by the Buckow-Waldsieversdorf brass band and a relaxed conclusion in the park. The detailed program will be published by the organizer in the weeks leading up to the festival.
Buckow can be reached by the Buckower Kleinbahn (narrow-gauge museum railway) from Müncheberg — a classic journey for day-trippers from Berlin. Those staying for the whole weekend can find hotels and guesthouses by the Schermützelsee. The Buckow Rose Days are one of the most beautiful family festivals in the Brandenburg summer — and the 60th edition is a great reason to visit.
In 2026, the Buckow Rose Days will celebrate their 60th anniversary. Three days of festival weekend from June 12th to 14th, supported by the town, clubs, and Buckow marksmen. The Buckow Rose is at the center: crowning of the Rose Queen, parade through the old town, rose display in the castle park. Around this, a classic Brandenburg town festival with a festival tent, live music, sports competitions, and a family program. The detailed hourly program will be published by the Amt Märkische Schweiz a few weeks before the festival.
