Marathon with Vineyard Scenery

Since its premiere in 2010, the Saaletal Marathon has developed into one of the most beautiful spring runs in Southern Germany. The organizer is SV Ramsthal e.V. in the wine village of Ramsthal, home to 1,000 inhabitants, near Bad Kissingen. The course leads through the Fränkische Saaletal, one of the most beautiful parts of the Bavarian Rhön Nature Park, past vineyards, orchards, and historic village centers.

Five Distances Plus Bambini

The Saaletal Marathon offers an unusually wide selection of distances: classic Marathon (42.2 km, start 10:00 AM), rare 3/4 Marathon (33 km, 10:15 AM), Half Marathon (21 km, 10:30 AM), 1/4 Marathon (10 km, 11:00 AM), as well as a Mini Marathon (4.2 km, 11:15 AM) for beginners. The Bambini run (300 m) for children up to 6 years starts at 10:40 AM. This makes the event attractive for the whole family.

Quickly Sold Out

The number of participants is limited, and the event is regularly sold out weeks before the start. For 2026, SV Ramsthal already reported "sold out" in the winter – those who want to compete in 2027 should keep an eye on the registration start (usually in autumn). The 17th edition is already announced: April 10, 2027.

Ramsthal and the Fränkische Saaletal

Ramsthal is one of the ten wine villages in the district of Bad Kissingen and belongs to the administrative community of Euerdorf. Wine has been cultivated on the surrounding Muschelkalk slopes since the Middle Ages – Silvaner, Bacchus, and Müller-Thurgau dominate. Its location in the Saaletal between Schweinfurt and Bad Kissingen makes the marathon a particularly scenically attractive choice in the spring running calendar.
