Mainfränkisches Straßenfest with brass band and Franconian wine in the Brebersdorf district
In the Brebersdorf district of the Mainfränkische municipality of Wasserlosen, the village street is turned into a festival ground every year on the first weekend in August. The organizer is the Musik- und Gesangsverein Brebersdorf (Music and Singing Club), which has been hosting the Straßenfest as a central event in the village's annual calendar for years.
The festival follows the typical pattern of Mainfränkische Vereinsfeste: a road closure transforms the main street into a festival area with beer benches, a stage, and catering stands. Brass music and singing performances provide the musical backdrop on the stage. The culinary offerings include classic Franconian specialties – Bratwürste, Schäuferla, Krautsalat, Schweinshaxe – as well as a rich selection of Franconian wines, often from the vineyards around Wasserlosen and the neighboring wine paradise of Volkach/Iphofen.
The municipality of Wasserlosen, with its approximately 3000 inhabitants, is located in the Schweinfurt district, north of the city on the edge of the Main valley. In addition to Wasserlosen, the municipal area includes the districts of Brebersdorf, Burghausen, and Wülfershausen. Each of these villages maintains its own festivals: the Kohlenmeilerfest in Wülfershausen, the Backofenfest in Burghausen – and the Straßenfest in Brebersdorf. This makes Wasserlosen one of those municipalities where club life shapes the annual calendar.
The festival, like many Mainfränkische Vereinsfeste, thrives on the commitment of the village population: clubs take on setup and dismantling, catering, stage program, and cleaning. A road closure is organized weeks in advance, and the proceeds support the work of the music and singing club. For visitors, it is a hidden gem – a place where you can not only drink Mainfranken but also hear it: a dense brass music tradition, communal singing, and an open village.
The 2026 edition of the Straßenfest Brebersdorf is expected to take place on the first weekend in August (July 31–August 2, 2026). The organizer is the Musik- und Gesangsverein Brebersdorf, which has been organizing the festival with great commitment for years.
On the program: opening on Friday evening, festival evening on Saturday, and Frühschoppen with lunch on Sunday – each accompanied by brass music, singing, and plenty of Franconian wine. The municipality of Wasserlosen will provide timely information on the exact date and program details at wasserlosen.de.
Detailed schedule and artist names will be published by the Musik- und Gesangsverein Brebersdorf before the festival.
