The Run Between the Seas is one of Northern Germany's most famous relay race events. On Saturday, May 30, 2026, up to 800 teams, each with a maximum of ten runners, will start in Husum on the North Sea. Over 92.2 kilometers in 10 stages, the course leads through the Schleswig-Holstein midlands — past Wittbek, Hollingstedt, Dannewerk, Schleswig, Fahrdorf, Fleckeby, Gammelby, Loose, and Waabs — to the finish in the Ostseeresort Damp. The fastest teams take around 5:10 hours, with the finish line tape expected to be broken around 2:15 PM. Pasta party the evening before in Damp.

The 19th edition of the Run Between the Seas confirms the well-established format. The start is on Saturday morning in Husum, and the finish line tape will be broken around 2:15 PM for the fastest teams in the Ostseeresort Damp, approximately 5 hours and 10 minutes after the start. The 800 teams will race through 10 stages across the Schleswig-Holstein midlands.

Registration was via davengo.com starting June 13, 2025, 3:00 PM. As every year, the event sells out quickly. The evening before (Friday, May 29), the Pasta and Runners' Party takes place in the festival tent on Damp action beach — a sporting event with a festival component.

The Run Between the Seas connects the North Sea with the Baltic Sea every spring — on foot, in ten stages, with up to 800 teams. What began in 2008 as an ambitious local project has developed into one of Northern Germany's largest relay race events and is considered a must-attend date in the Schleswig-Holstein running calendar. In the state of Schleswig-Holstein, no other sporting event so visibly connects geography and identity.

92.2 Kilometers in 10 Stages

The course leads from the market square in Husum (Nordfriesland district, on the North Sea) to the Ostseeresort Damp in the Rendsburg-Eckernförde district on the Baltic Sea. In between are 11 changeover points:

With a best time of around 5:10 hours for the fastest teams, the Run Between the Seas is a demanding sporting event. At the same time, the team component is the core: those who participate in the run do so with colleagues, club friends, or family members. At the changeover points, generations meet, locals stand by the roadside with water and grapes, and the atmosphere is more like a folk hike than a professional race.

Pasta Party and Festival Atmosphere

The evening before (Friday, May 29, 2026), the Pasta and Runners' Party takes place in the festival tent on the Damp action beach — carb-loading with live music, culinary delights, and the opening atmosphere of a sports festival. Arriving teams are celebrated at the finish in the Ostseeresort Damp.
