2025/26 Carnival Season in Rommerskirchen

The 2025/26 Carnival season comprises three central events that together form the municipality's Lower Rhenish Carnival spectacle: Altweiber-Party, Costume Ball, and Carnival Sunday with Parade. Altweiber-Party on February 12, 2026 — Thursday

The start of the 2025/26 Carnival season in Rommerskirchen takes place on the traditional "Altweiber" Thursday — on February 12, 2026, starting at 11:00 AM. Unlike in some Rhenish strongholds where Altweiber is exclusively a women's festival, the Rommerskirchen version calls itself a "Party for Young and Old" — a mixed carnival celebration utilizing the traditional date. Classic program elements include tie-cutting, carnival music, and dancing in the festival tent or local pubs.

Costume Ball on Saturday, February 28, 2026

A highlight of the season is the Costume Ball on Saturday, February 28, 2026, starting at 7:00 PM in the heated festival tent. The ball is a classic carnival celebration featuring:

Carnival Sunday, March 1, 2026 — "D'r Zoch kütt"

The climax of the season is Carnival Sunday, March 1, 2026, with the traditional parade "D'r Zoch kütt" (= "The procession is coming" in Rhenish dialect). Program:

2:00 PM — "D'r Zoch kütt" begins

The grand carnival parade winds its way through Rommerskirchen's town center with floats, music bands, carnival clubs, dance troupes, and walking groups. Sweets are thrown from the floats — a classic element of Rhenish carnival parades.

Ends at the Festival Grounds

The parade concludes at Rommerskirchen's central festival grounds.

3:30 PM — Jeckenparty

Immediately following, the Jeckenparty begins — the carnival closing celebration with live music, dancing, carnival hits, and the typical Rhenish carnival atmosphere lasting well into the evening.
