Three-day wine festival and Kirchweih (church consecration festival) around the Rommelshausen community center – two festival tents, GenussPlätzle (gourmet corner), craft market, and Sunday shopping.
The Römer Kirbe is the annual wine festival of the municipality of Kernen im Remstal, with a focus on the district of Rommelshausen. The name refers to the region's Roman history — the Remstal valley was beyond the Upper Germanic Limes during Roman times but under strong Roman influence. From October 16 to 18, 2026, the center of Rommelshausen around the community center will transform into a three-day festival and market mile.
The festival concept features several parallel areas:
Sunday, October 18, 2026, is a Sunday shopping day — shops in Rommelshausen will open in the afternoon. A children's flea market runs concurrently, a fixture of the Römer Kirbe for years, allowing children to become little vendors. Families from the Remstal and beyond specifically visit the town for this Sunday.
Kernen im Remstal is a municipality formed in 1975 from the merger of the districts of Rommelshausen and Stetten im Remstal, located east of Stuttgart. With over 15,000 inhabitants, it is one of the more significant communities in the Remstal — one of Württemberg's most traditional wine-growing regions. Trollinger, Lemberger, Riesling, and Spätburgunder have been cultivated here for centuries, and the festival draws directly from this tradition.
The Römer Kirbe 2026 takes place on the traditional October weekend. The festival opening on Friday evening with the mayor's speech and barrel tapping is followed by a Saturday packed with events — the Rommelshausen clubs entertain on stage with performances ranging from brass music and choral singing to dance, while the main catering is in the festival tents. Sunday is dedicated to families: church service, Frühschoppen, children's flea market, and open shops.
Free admission. Wine by the glass €3–€5, beer (half-liter) €4–€5, main courses €10–€18. Children's flea market: symbolic fee for participating children, free to visit.
Take the S-Bahn S2 from Stuttgart Hauptbahnhof directly to Kernen-Rommelshausen (Rommelshausen stop). By car, take the B14 or B29, park on the outskirts of town.
Free admission. Food and drinks in the festival tents and at the GenussPlätzle at standard festival prices.
Sunday, October 18, 2026, shops in Rommelshausen open in the afternoon. Children's flea market at midday/afternoon.
Saturday evening is the busiest — both festival tents are full, the craft market is illuminated. Families should plan for Sunday for the children's flea market and Frühschoppen.
