10th Health Day focusing on Sport and Seniors on the Open Shopping Sunday
The "Zweibrücken gesund" Health Day has been a firm fixture in the spring calendar for ten years. With annually changing themes — from prevention and nutrition to mental health — the day imparts knowledge in an accessible and family-friendly atmosphere, promotes physical activity, and showcases the diversity of Zweibrücken's health and sports landscape.
In 2026, Sport and Seniors will be the focus. The Health Day addresses a dual contemporary challenge: the demographic shift towards an aging population and the desire to remain healthy and active for as long as possible. Sports clubs, senior activity groups, health insurance providers, therapy centers, and health initiatives will present their offerings and conduct interactive activities.
Approximately 40 clubs, initiatives, and institutions are expected to be present. The focus will be on sports clubs — from gymnastics, dance, and swimming clubs to athletics, football, and cycling, as well as senior gymnastics and hiking groups. They will be complemented by rehabilitation clinics, therapy practices, pharmacies, and health insurance companies with information booths.
On the same Sunday, the shops in Zweibrücken's city center will open for the Open Shopping Sunday with the corresponding theme focus "Health & Well-being." This makes the day a cohesive spring offering that combines information, activities, and shopping — embedded in a large event weekend with an Italian Market and a flea market.
The 2026 Health Day is part of a comprehensive March weekend that also includes the Italian Market and the flea market. Families, seniors, and sports enthusiasts will find an all-day program in the city center.
