Monthly market on the Magistrale from April to October
Every first Saturday of the month, the cityFLOHMARKT transforms the Magistrale (officially Karl-Marx-Straße) in the heart of Frankfurt (Oder) into an East Brandenburg flea market meeting point. The event has been running for years in the twin city of Frankfurt (Oder)/Słubice — and is one of the most beautiful opportunities to fill the DDR-modernist architecture of the Magistrale with new life.
The 2026 season runs from April to October with the following dates, always from 10 AM – 4 PM:
Admission for visitors is free. Sellers should contact Sina Prietzel (Stadtmarketing) — email [email protected] or by phone +49 335/4010-409 or +49 162/9810176.
The city marketing describes the market as "colorful and popular" — and that fits. Antiques from Berlin and East Brandenburg households, vintage fashion, collectibles (records, postcards, GDR memorabilia), books, tools, toys, jewelry, and always the typical flea market curiosities whose purpose you only begin to guess on the way home. Prices are moderate — Frankfurt (Oder) is not a high-price flea market zone like Berlin Mauerpark.
The Magistrale is the central axis of Frankfurt's city center — a wide street designed by GDR reconstruction architects, featuring prefabricated buildings, commercial buildings, and squares. What sometimes appears a bit austere in everyday life becomes a stage on market day: hundreds of stalls line the street, the cafés on the Magistrale open their outdoor seating, and the rather quiet Frankfurt takes on a different energy.
With just under 60,000 inhabitants, Frankfurt (Oder) is the largest city in East Brandenburg — right on the Polish border, with the European University Viadrina as a defining institution. Anyone coming to the cityFLOHMARKT should take time to explore the city: the Gothic St. Mary's Church, the historic Peace Bell, the view across the Oder to Słubice — and in summer, a walk across the city bridge to the Polish side, where the Polish bazaar and restaurants await right by the bridge.
Stall Offerings: Antiques, vintage fashion, collectibles (records, postcards, GDR memorabilia), books, tools, toys, jewelry, household clear-outs, flea market curiosities — moderate prices, bargaining is common.
Train: RE1 from Berlin Hauptbahnhof to Frankfurt (Oder) (approx. 1:05 h), then approx. 10 min. walk to the Magistrale. By car: A12 exit Frankfurt (Oder)-Mitte.
Free admission for visitors. Prices at the stalls vary — bargaining is common.
The season start weekend (April 11/12) coincides with cityFRÜHLING, a parallel spring festival with a stage program. Stay in the city for the June date — summer in Frankfurt (Oder) has a lot to offer, from the Oder promenade to the Słubice Bazaar.
