Schwabing's Car-Free Festival
The Zamanand Festival is Munich's major street festival for social cohesion, sustainability, and tolerance. It takes place on Leopold- and Ludwigstraße between the Siegestor and Münchner Freiheit in the Schwabing district – one of the most famous arteries of the Bavarian capital. The approximately 2.3-kilometer route will be completely car-free for the festival.
Two Editions Per Year
The festival is held twice a year: the Summer Edition in June, focusing on "Zamanand in Europe," and the Autumn Edition in September, focusing on Education and Sustainable Nutrition. Both editions are accessible to the public with free admission.
Eight Stages and Hands-On Activities
During the festival days, up to eight stages will be set up along the street, offering music, readings, and talks. In addition, there will be hands-on activities, information booths, art installations, projection mapping, and the AHA Super Science Club with Munich research institutions. The Further Contest features skateboarding and BMX sports, while the Corso Leopold showcases Schwabing's cultural institutions.
25 Years of Car-Free Day
In 2026, Munich's Car-Free Day, which inspired the festival's founding idea, celebrates its 25th anniversary. The Zamanand Festival is organized by Zamanand gUG in cooperation with the City of Munich's Department of Climate and Environmental Protection and the telecommunications provider M-net.
Munich Shows Commitment
With diversity, climate and environmental protection, social engagement, and education, the festival sets thematic priorities that set standards in Munich's cultural scene. It is a meeting point for associations, NGOs, educational institutions, cultural and research institutions – and a family festival with free admission.
