Four Days of Fulda in Festival Mode
The Stadtfest Fulda is the most important in-house event of the East Hessian cathedral city during the summer months. From August 20 to 23, 2026, the entire city center of Fulda will transform into a continuous festival mile with stages, gastronomy, and entertainment. The organizer is the association City Marketing Fulda e.V. in cooperation with the City of Fulda.
The City Center as a Festival Backdrop
Fulda's city center, with its baroque episcopal city architecture, is one of the most beautiful festival backdrops in Hesse: Bonifatiusplatz in front of the cathedral, Universitätsplatz, Bormannplatz, and the pedestrian zone will become stage locations. The entire inner-city loop, from the city palace front to Bonifatius Cathedral, will be filled with festival stands.
Program for Young and Old
The program promises a "varied program for young and old": Several open-air stages with live music (rock, pop, cover bands, Schlager), club performances, dance groups, children's programs, and regional gastronomy. The exact schedule and band names will be published on spuere-fulda.de before the festival begins.
The East Hessian Metropolis
Fulda is the largest city in East Hesse with around 70,000 inhabitants, characterized by baroque buildings (Cathedral, Palace, Fulda Residence), the Fulda University of Applied Sciences, and vibrant city center commerce. The Stadtfest relies on all these components – church, palace, shops, university.
Free Admission
As with many Hessian city festivals, admission to the entire event in Fulda is free. Food and drinks are sold at the club and gastronomy stands.
About Fulda
With around 70,000 inhabitants, Fulda is the economic and cultural center of East Hesse. The baroque old town with Fulda Cathedral, the City Palace, and the Orangerie was significantly shaped by the Prince-Abbots and Prince-Bishops of Fulda. The Stadtfest uses this representative architecture as a festival backdrop and combines urban tradition with a modern open-air program.

Getting There
By car: A7 (Würzburg–Kassel) or A66 (Frankfurt–Fulda), exit Fulda-Mitte. City center traffic-calmed during the festival period – parking garages on the outskirts and a walk into the city. By train: Fulda main station (ICE stop) directly in the city center.

Tip
