A wine festival in the middle of the vineyard
The Mechenharder Weinbergfest is an authentic spring wine festival in the Franconian wine-growing region on the Bavarian Untermain. Instead of a market square, it's celebrated right between the vines — on the slope about one kilometer southwest of the Erlenbach district of Mechenhard. Six local winegrowers join forces to revive the old viticulture tradition of their village.
Location and walking access
The vineyard is only accessible on foot, and this is precisely what makes the festival's charm. There are three classic access routes:
- from the Erlenbach swimming pool via a short path
- from Klingenberg up the slope via the stairs
- directly from Mechenhard
What awaits you
The winegrowers serve their own wines, accompanied by Franconian specialties — especially the Hüttenthaler Käsebrot, which has long enjoyed cult status. The view of the Maintal valley is priceless. The festival takes place in all weather; in the evening, you should bring a flashlight for the way back.
More than a festival — a wine tradition
Mechenhard is located in the Franconian growing region on the Untermain (Miltenberg district, Bavaria). Erlenbach is one of the most traditional wine towns in Bavarian Untermain and also celebrates the large Erlenbacher Weinfest in the summer. The Weinbergfest complements this tradition as a charming, intimate variant.
