Spring wine festival with Main view in the Mechenhard vineyard
The Mechenharder Weinbergfest is an authentic spring wine festival in the Franconian wine-growing region on the Bavarian Untermain. Instead of a market square, it's celebrated right between the vines — on the slope about one kilometer southwest of the Erlenbach district of Mechenhard. Six local winegrowers join forces to revive the old viticulture tradition of their village.
The vineyard is only accessible on foot, and this is precisely what makes the festival's charm. There are three classic access routes:
The winegrowers serve their own wines, accompanied by Franconian specialties — especially the Hüttenthaler Käsebrot, which has long enjoyed cult status. The view of the Maintal valley is priceless. The festival takes place in all weather; in the evening, you should bring a flashlight for the way back.
Mechenhard is located in the Franconian growing region on the Untermain (Miltenberg district, Bavaria). Erlenbach is one of the most traditional wine towns in Bavarian Untermain and also celebrates the large Erlenbacher Weinfest in the summer. The Weinbergfest complements this tradition as a charming, intimate variant.
The 8th Mechenharder Weinbergfest 2026 is organized by the Department of Economy-Culture-Tourism of the City of Erlenbach in cooperation with the six local winegrowers. It is open on Saturday, April 25 from 2:00 PM and on Sunday, April 26 from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
You can reach the vineyard on foot via three routes: from the Erlenbach swimming pool, via the stairs from Klingenberg, or directly from Mechenhard. Sturdy footwear and a flashlight for the evening are recommended.
The organizer does not provide a detailed stage or music program — the festival thrives on the relaxed get-together among the vines and the view of the Maintal valley. Current information and possible program updates at stadt-erlenbach.de.
