About Riegeler Musikfest
Riegeler Musikfest — edition 2026
Three Days of Music and Local Beer
The 2026 edition combines the classic Riegeler Musikfest program with the 14th Landbiertag – a combination that has drawn thousands of visitors from the Breisgau region, the Kaiserstuhl, and neighboring Alsace to the Riegel festival grounds for over a decade.
The festival tent is the centerpiece, featuring draft beer (and beer from traditional stoneware mugs on Landbiertag), Baden cuisine, and a packed live program: from the Polka opening by the Bahlingen band to the Schwarzwald Quintett and the Riegeler Brassband. French guests from Alsace (Fanfare de Sundhouse) will bring Alsatian flair to the Kaiserstuhl on Sunday.

Festival Tradition on the Kaiserstuhl
Every year in May, the Riegeler Musikverein e.V. hosts its three-day music festival – an event that transforms the Riegel festival grounds, nestled between the Kaiserstuhl vineyards and the Rhine plain, into a meeting point for the South Baden brass music scene. In 2026, this will be celebrated in conjunction with the 14th Landbiertag, a Frühschoppen event initiated by Riegel clubs and the Riegeler brewery (Heinrich-Hansjakob-Brauerei), uniting traditional brass music and regional beer.
Saturday: Opening and "Nacht in Tracht"
The festival kicks off on Saturday, May 9th, 2026, at 6:00 PM with the Musikverein Bahlingen performing "Polka satt" (Polka Galore). From 9:00 PM, the evening's highlight begins: the "Nacht in Tracht" with the Original Schwarzwald Quintett – traditional costume is a must in the festival tent, offering the finest Black Forest folklore and an atmosphere that fills the tent well past midnight.
Sunday: 14th Landbiertag
On Sunday, May 10th, 2026, the 14th Landbiertag takes center stage. At 11:30 AM, Riegel's Mayor Daniel Kietz will open the Frühschoppen by tapping the first keg, and the Schwarzwald Quintett will play during the traditional lunch. From 3:00 PM onwards, other brass bands will take the stage – the Seerose Music Club, the Fanfare de Sundhouse from neighboring Alsace, and the Big Band Music Corporation. In the evening, the Riegeler Brassband "s'BRASSt schu" will provide the festival's closing sounds.
Monday: Handwerker-Frühschoppen
On Monday, May 11th, 2026, the festival day begins at 11:30 AM with the traditional Handwerker-Frühschoppen – the morning pint for Riegel's craftsmen, a cozy gathering with brass music and regional cuisine. From 2:00 PM, the children's program will feature games, craft activities, and hands-on stations. At 5:00 PM, the youth band will perform, and at 6:00 PM, the Katharinenkapelle will take the stage.
Beer from the Stoneware Mug
During the Landbiertag, Riegeler beer is traditionally served from stoneware mugs – a tradition the Riegeler brewery has upheld for decades. Accompanied by Baden specialties: Maultaschen, Bratwurst, Schäufele, Käsespätzle, and Kaiserstuhl wine for those who prefer it over beer.
Riegel am Kaiserstuhl
Riegel am Kaiserstuhl is located in the Emmendingen district of Baden-Württemberg, on the eastern edge of the Kaiserstuhl hills. The municipality is known for its brewery, its Roman excavations (Mithras Temple), and its location between the Kaiserstuhl, the Rhine, and the Black Forest – one of Baden's most beautiful wine regions.
