Over 60 years of cherry tradition
Königschaffhausen is one of the most important cherry-growing regions in southern Baden: over 60 hectares of cherry trees surround the district of Endingen am Kaiserstuhl, which has just under 1,600 inhabitants. The community has been celebrating this tradition with the Kaiserstühler Kirschenfest since the 1960s — at the end of May, when the cherries ripen and spring transitions into summer. The festival is one of the largest and most traditional cherry festivals in Germany.
Cherry Queen and Princesses
A special feature of the festival is the annual election of the Cherry Queen and two princesses. For 2026, these are Cherry Queen Jule Klemmer and her princesses Lara Schillinger and Sarah Hirzler — representatives who will represent the festival and the cherry-growing region throughout the year (fairs, tastings, visits to partner communities). The Queen and her princesses are the focus of the festival parade on Sunday.
Festival Parade on Sunday — 100th Anniversary of the Music Association
The festival parade on Sunday afternoon is the highlight of the weekend: music associations, traditional costume groups, floats with cherry motifs, and the Royal Guard march through the village. In 2026, the parade has a special touch: the Königschaffhausen Music Association is celebrating its 100th anniversary. The anniversary will be celebrated with a large contingent of neighboring music associations — the parade accompaniment will be more lavish than in normal years.
Marquee, Program, Kaiserstuhl Specialties
Live music plays in the marquee on all four days: local bands, cover bands, and traditional folk music on Sunday evening. Accompanied by Kaiserstuhl specialties — Spätburgunder, Grauburgunder, Müller-Thurgau, Kaiserstühler Sekt, cherry Sekt, farmer's dishes, cherry cake, cherry tiramisu, brandied cherries. The family program includes children's rides, bouncy castles, and hands-on activities all about cherries.
