Reutlingen Music Night Spring — The City Sings

When live music echoes from 20 different doors in Reutlingen's old town on the evening of Saturday, April 18, 2026, the Reutlingen Music Night Spring is back. The Reutlinger Gastro Initiative e.V. (RGI) organizes a music night three times a year — spring, autumn, and winter: a concert format where you can stroll through the city center venues for free and experience live bands or DJs in bars, restaurants, and clubs. The 2026 spring edition marks the season opener for one of Reutlingen's most popular community formats.

How Does the Music Night Work?

The concept is simple: Live bands or DJs play all evening in over 20 city center venues — pizzerias, bars, cafés, restaurants, and clubs. Admission is free everywhere. You can order a glass of sparkling wine, a beer, or a meal as you please — or just listen in and move on. This makes the Music Night a perfect format for urban strollers: you discover not only music but also venues you haven't visited before.

Genre Diversity — From Acoustic to Techno

The musical spectrum ranges from singer-songwriter to indie pop, jazz, cover bands, rock, funk, electronic music with DJ sets, to comedy and poetry slams in individual locations. Each venue chooses its own act — this gives the Music Night its diversity. The exact program with venue list, acts, and set times will be published on the RGI website about two weeks before the event.

Atmosphere and City Stroll

The Reutlingen Old Town, with its narrow alleys, market square, St. Mary's Church, and converted old industrial buildings, offers a charming backdrop for the Music Night. You can stroll from venue to venue in the fresh spring air — which significantly distinguishes the festival's atmosphere from the typical festival setting with long queues and uniform grounds. The Music Night attracts Reutlingen residents from all age and social groups — students, families, seniors, regulars, and concert lovers.

Reutlingen Gastro Initiative

The Reutlingen Gastro Initiative (RGI) is an association of Reutlingen city center restaurateurs. Their mission: to keep the city center experience vibrant through coordinated actions, counteracting online shopping competition and the structural changes in urban centers. The Music Nights are the flagship format of this initiative — free, accessible, and participatory.

Reutlingen at the Swabian Jura Escarpment

The city of Reutlingen, with around 117,000 inhabitants, is one of the largest medium-sized cities in Baden-Württemberg and the seat of the Reutlingen district. It lies directly on the Albtrauf (Swabian Jura escarpment) — the famous Achalm hill overlooks the city.
