Since 1991 — originating from the partnership between Neuenhagen bei Berlin and the Bavarian municipality of Grünwald — the community in the Märkisch-Oderland district hosts its own Oktoberfest at Platz der Republik. The 34th edition will be celebrated from September 11th to 13th, 2026: Friday 6 PM to midnight opening with a lantern parade, Saturday 10 AM to midnight keg tapping at 12 PM and a grand daytime program on three stages, Sunday 10 AM to 5 PM family wind-down. Over 10,000 visitors flock to Neuenhagen's town center annually — making the festival one of the largest Oktoberfests in the Berlin metropolitan area. Getting There

Neuenhagen is located directly east of Berlin. Take the S-Bahn S5 from Berlin Hauptbahnhof (towards Strausberg Nord) to Neuenhagen — approx. 35 min. From the station, it's a 10-minute walk to Platz der Republik. By car, take the A10 (exit Hönow).

Free admission. Payment at the beer tent and food stalls via tokens or cash.

Clothing

Traditional costumes (Dirndl, Lederhosen) are welcome but not mandatory. Comfortable shoes recommended.

Bavarian Partnership in East Berlin

Neuenhagen bei Berlin is located directly on the eastern edge of the capital in the Märkisch-Oderland district and has about 18,000 inhabitants. The municipality has maintained a partnership with Grünwald, a municipality south of Munich, since 1991 — and the Neuenhagen Oktoberfest originated from this partnership. What began as a Bavarian-Brandenburg gesture is today a folk festival with over 10,000 visitors per year and one of the largest of its kind in the Berlin metropolitan area.

Three stages are active simultaneously, ensuring continuous programming throughout the day — from the morning pint brass band to the evening party band.

Tradition Since 1991

The tradition began shortly after reunification: the new municipal partnership with Grünwald in Bavaria led to the first Neuenhagen Oktoberfest in 1991. It has grown steadily over the years, and today it is one of the oldest Oktoberfests in Brandenburg and one of the few that truly thrives on an active Bavarian connection — not just a commercially staged beer festival, but an expression of a real partnership between East and West.
