Special wine tasting for the 750th city anniversary — Rarities from Klingenberg's steep slopes on red sandstone
Klingenberg am Main is celebrating its 750th city anniversary in 2026. For this occasion, the Klingenberg Winegrowers' Association 1909 e.V. is organizing a special rare wine tasting. Instead of young vintages, the focus here is on rarities: aged and rare wines from Klingenberg's famous steep slopes, which are specially brought out of the vintners' cellars for this anniversary.
Klingenberg is one of the oldest and most renowned red wine regions in Franconia. The steep vineyards on red sandstone primarily produce characterful Pinot Noirs that are highly valued far beyond the region. A tasting of rarities offers a rare opportunity to taste the development of these wines over the years and to get to know the signature of the Klingenberg vintners.
The special wine tasting is part of the wine festival calendar of Churfranken, the wine region on the Bavarian Lower Main. The regular Klingenberg Winegrowers' Festival did not take place in 2025 — the rare wine tasting in 2026 will set a special wine-cultural accent in the city's anniversary year.
The old town of Klingenberg with its half-timbered houses, city walls, and the Clingenburg castle above the vineyards is one of the most beautiful places in Churfranken. A visit to the rare wine tasting can be well combined with a stroll through the historic old town or a hike on the Franconian Red Wine Hiking Trail.
The rare wine tasting for the 750th city anniversary of Klingenberg will take place on November 19, 2026. The organizer is the Klingenberg Winegrowers' Association 1909 e.V.
