Festival year for the 750th city anniversary and 50 years of district fusion on the Bavarian Lower Main
In 2026, Klingenberg am Main celebrates its 750th city anniversary. The town is located on the Bavarian Lower Main in the district of Miltenberg in Lower Franconia and is considered the gateway to the Spessart-Mainland. The granting of town rights 750 years ago marks one of the early milestones in Lower Franconian town history.
At the same time, Klingenberg is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the merger of the formerly independent municipalities of Klingenberg, Röllfeld, and Trennfurt in 1976. Thus, 2026 marks a double anniversary year for the town, which has around 6,400 inhabitants.
The 2026 festival year was opened with the New Year's reception in the Trennfurt triple sports hall, attended by Minister of State Judith Gerlach and Vice-President of the Bundestag Andrea Lindholz. Throughout the year, there will be musical festivals, musical evenings at the Clingenburg, a joint concert by the Klingenberg singing clubs, and numerous other events that shape the town's image as a cultural and wine-growing center.
The highlight is the festival weekend from October 3rd to 4th, 2026, with a major event on German Unity Day (Friday, October 3rd) and the traditional Klingenberg Autumn Market on Sunday, October 4th. Associations, schools, and the catering industry from the three districts will participate in the program.
Klingenberg is famous for its red wine slope and its Pinot Noir. The Clingenburg, a castle ruin, towers above the town and serves as a spectacular open-air venue for musicals and theater in the summer. The festival year utilizes this backdrop multiple times for musical evenings. The Obstkulturpark (Fruit Culture Park) and the Wein- und Heimatmuseum (Wine and Local History Museum) also invite visitors to explore regional history.
