Tanz in den Mai Olewig

'Tanz in den Mai' is a tradition widespread throughout Germany – in Trier-Olewig, it has been celebrated for years with special charm in the historic wine village. The venue for 2026 is again the Klostergarten Olewig (Olewig monastery garden), an atmospheric open-air location ideal for convivial spring evenings.

The organizer is Trier Olewig Event GbR, a local initiative that organizes several wine and neighborhood festivals in Olewig – including the Trierer Glühwein Kontest in November, the Wein-Kost-Wanderung in October, and other events. With 'Tanz in den Mai', they traditionally kick off their outdoor event season.

The program begins on April 30, 2026, at 5 p.m. Live music and DJs will provide dance music into the night, while regional specialties and, in particular, the wines of the Olewig vintners make the evening a culinary experience. The monastery garden can also be used regardless of the weather, as parts of the area are covered.

Olewig is located on the eastern outskirts of Trier, at the foot of the Petrisberg hill and in close proximity to the Roman amphitheater. The village center has retained its wine village character with half-timbered houses, 'Straußwirtschaften' (seasonal wine taverns), and a dense network of wineries. This makes every evening in Olewig a small journey from urban Trier into a Moselle idyll.
