Summery wine festival on Luitpoldplatz in Grünstadt with a wine village and a large music program over four days
Luitpoldplatz is the central square of Grünstadt — a spacious area in the historic town center that normally serves as a parking lot, market space, and event venue. In summer, it becomes the main stage for the Grünstädter Weinfest. Its location between the town center and the Grünstadt vineyards, the size of the square, and its central position make it the ideal festival grounds.
The Grünstädter Weinfest spans four days, from Friday to Monday. A unique selling point is the particularly dense music program — bands play on various stages every day, from cover bands with classic repertoire and Palatinate dialect artists to DJ sets in the late evening. This makes the festival particularly attractive to a younger audience looking for longer festival nights and dancing opportunities.
Grünstadt's vintners serve their current vintages — Rieslings from the Bergel and Röth vineyards, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Rosé wines, Pinot Noir, sparkling wine. Local clubs offer classic Palatinate specialties: Saumagen, Bratwurst, Leberknödel, Flammkuchen, Palatinate sausage salad, vegetarian alternatives.
The Grünstädter Weinfest is less tourist-oriented than the very large Middle Rhine festivals — and that's precisely its charm: it's primarily celebrated by the people of the Leiningerland, with guests from the region and all who want to experience the Palatinate summer authentically.
The 2026 edition sticks to the proven format: four days of festivities on the central Luitpoldplatz, with a focus on Grünstadt wines, Palatinate cuisine, and a pronounced music program. The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in the summer.
