Volksfest on the Old Shipyard Site — May 2026, every two years
The Schollentage Oldersum are among the most charming Volksfeste in the Leer district. Every two years, always in even-numbered years, the Old Shipyard Site in the Oldersum district of Moormerland transforms into a lively festival ground for two days. The name harks back to the once-important plaice fishery in the region.
The highlight of the Schollentage is traditionally the parade, in which numerous local clubs, traditional costume groups, and a brass band participate. In addition, a large flea market, food stalls with freshly caught specialities, a stage programme, and maritime decorations characterise the weekend. The location directly on the water creates a special flair.
After the festival attracted thousands of visitors in 2025, the 2026 edition is firmly in the planning stages. The exact date in May 2026 will be published by the organiser in spring. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years:
The district of Oldersum belongs to the municipality of Moormerland and is located on the Ems-Seitenkanal. The old shipyard history is still visible today — and forms the perfect backdrop for a festival that combines East Frisian conviviality, tradition, and maritime heritage.
The exact 2026 programme will be published by the organiser in spring. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years:
