Quickborn Summer Fairytale at Rathausplatz
From June 14, 2026, the FIFA World Cup will be held in North America — in Mexico, Canada, and the USA, with the first World Cup tournament in a 48-team format. While the German national team plays across the Atlantic, the town of Quickborn in the Pinneberg district of Schleswig-Holstein is organizing the "Quickborn Summer Fairytale" — a large-scale public viewing event at Rathausplatz.
The kick-off on June 14, 2026, is a grand event: Shopping Sunday from 1 PM in Quickborn's city center (Sunday opening hours), fan mile from 5 PM at Rathausplatz, first World Cup match from 7 PM on the LED screens. With this combination of shopping Sunday and public viewing, the town of Quickborn is turning the World Cup start into a real town festival.
The organizer is Match Langenhorn (exclusive broadcasting rights for the German national team's matches). Quickborn has developed a comprehensive security concept, which was praised in the Schleswig-Holstein city magazine — family-friendliness and a safe atmosphere are explicitly part of the concept. A maximum of 4,500 visitors will be admitted per match day, and a ticketing system for high-demand matches will manage access.
While Hamburg is setting up its central fan miles at Heiligengeistfeld and Spielbudenplatz on the Reeperbahn, Quickborn offers the family-friendly alternative for the entire Pinneberg district — Norderstedt, Henstedt-Ulzburg, Pinneberg, Elmshorn. Those seeking a relaxed World Cup atmosphere away from the big city hustle will find it at Rathausplatz Quickborn.
