Style and lifestyle fair in the princely castle park — 26th edition on Ascension Day
Castell is a tiny Lower Franconian market town with just under 800 inhabitants in the Kitzingen district — and at the same time the ancestral seat of the Princely House of Castell-Castell and home to one of the oldest wineries in Franconia. The historic castle park with its old trees and paths has provided the backdrop for the Casteller Schlossparktage, one of Germany's most renowned lifestyle fairs, since 2001. In 2026, the 26th edition will take place from May 14th to 17th over the extended Ascension Day weekend.
More than 100 carefully selected exhibitors present their products in the areas of garden, fashion, culinary arts, design, art, and handicrafts. In the garden segment, manufacturers showcase creative crafts and decorative objects for the green oasis, from hand-forged rose arches to designer planters. The fashion segment features regional fair fashion labels and exclusive designer pieces from Bavaria. The culinary section is represented by top manufacturers of cheese, ham, chocolate, and olive oils, complemented by Castell's top wines.
Castell is famous for its Silvaner — one of the oldest white grape varieties in Franconia and the world. The first documented Silvaner vine was planted in Castell in 1659. During the Schlossparktage, the princely top wines are available for tasting sessions in the historic wine cellar: Casteller Schloßberg, Casteller Hohnart, as well as Müller-Thurgau and Bacchus. Tours of the winery, the princely archive, and the castle park complement the tasting program.
Highlights include horse demonstrations several times a day in the castle park, themed lectures on wine, gardening, architecture, and art, as well as guided tours through the garden and the house archive. A special herb journey and carriage rides through the park enrich the family program. Many exhibitors work live at their stands — woodturners, blacksmiths, glassblowers, and goldsmiths demonstrate their craft in practice.
The lineage of the Counts and Princes of Castell has been documented since 1057, and the winery is one of the oldest family wineries in Germany. Castell is a member of the VDP (Association of German Prädikat Wine Estates) and is considered a trendsetter for Franconian Silvaner. The Schlossparktage thus represent a special combination of established wine culture, princely living culture, and a contemporary lifestyle fair — and they are a meeting point for Franconian and supra-regional wine lovers throughout the festival weekend.
The 2026 Schlossparktage will take place over the extended Ascension Day weekend from May 14th to 17th in the historic Casteller Schlosspark. Over 100 exhibitors will showcase selected products from the garden, fashion, culinary arts, design, art, and crafts sectors. Castell wines will be offered in various tasting formats.
The fair is organized by Fürstlich Castell'sche Domänenamt e.K. and is recommended by VDP, Frankentourismus, and Bayern-Tourismus.
