Northern Germany's Largest Self-Organized Cultural Festival

The Kulturelle Landpartie is more than a festival — it's a twelve-day journey through one of Germany's most distinctive cultural landscapes. From May 14 to 25, 2026, the Lüchow-Dannenberg district in Wendland transforms into an open stage: 78 'Wunderpunkte' in 67 locations, around 40,000 visitors, the 37th edition.

Born from Resistance

The Kulturelle Landpartie originated in 1989 from the resistance against the Gorleben interim storage facility for nuclear waste. What began as a political statement has become one of Northern Germany's most vibrant cultural movements. Today, the KLP is the region's flagship and identity: a self-organized network of artists, craftspeople, farms, and initiatives that attracts thousands of guests annually.

78 Wunderpunkte

At the so-called 'Wunderpunkte', artists open their studios, farms their barns, workshops their gates. Visitors explore independently by bike or car through the Rundling villages and heath landscapes. The program ranges from fine arts and crafts to theater, music, and literature, as well as agriculture, permaculture, and political discussions.

2026 Edition

The 37th edition runs from Ascension Day (May 14) to Whit Sunday (May 25) — 12 full days. The opening and closing are traditionally celebrated together. The detailed program for all 78 'Wunderpunkte' is available via the festival website and the printed magazine.

A Festival Like No Other

The Kulturelle Landpartie operates without hierarchies or major sponsors. Each 'Wunderpunkt' decides its own program, admission fees, and opening hours. This makes the KLP one of Germany's most authentic cultural experiences — and one of the most beautiful ways to get to know the Wendland region.
