May Celebration with Maypole Raising
The BVE-Maifeier is the traditional May celebration of the municipality of Ellerau in the Segeberg district. The organizer is the Bürgerverein Ellerau e.V. (BVE), which has been organizing the festival for many years in established tradition. The highlight is the raising of the Maypole, a gesture that also has a long tradition in northern Schleswig-Holstein.
Program and Schedule
The May celebration starts at 10:00 AM and runs throughout the day:
- 10:00 AM: Opening with Maypole raising
- Live Music: Performance by the local band Ellerau Express
- Barbecue: Bratwurst, grilled meat, hot dogs
- Drinks: Draft beer, May punch, mulled wine, lemonade, coffee and cake
- Children's Program: Bouncy castles for the youngest visitors

BVE-Maifeier — edition 2026
The 2026 edition starts on Friday, May 1st at 10:00 AM in the center of Ellerau. The highlight is the traditional raising of the Maypole, which the village community performs together. The live band Ellerau Express provides the musical accompaniment with their performance.
Bouncy castles are available for the children, along with food from the barbecue, drinks, and cake. The atmosphere is family-friendly, and all generations are welcome.
