ProWein — the World's Leading Trade Fair

Since 1994, ProWein in Düsseldorf has been the undisputed world's leading trade fair for wine and spirits — the only trade fair that fully maps the global wine and spirits business in one place, over three days. In 2026, Messe Düsseldorf will host around 4,000 exhibitors from over 60 nations from March 15 to 17 — in a format exclusively open to trade visitors: no end-consumer sales, but sourcing, networking, and industry innovation.

The World That Meets in Düsseldorf

ProWein brings the global wine world to North Rhine-Westphalia: Wineries from Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne, Loire, Rhône, Languedoc, Provence — almost every French wine-growing region. Italian exhibitors from Tuscany, Piedmont, Friuli, Sicily, Veneto. Spain with Rioja, Ribera del Duero, Priorat, Penedès, Galicia. The German wine-growing regions — Mosel, Rheingau, Pfalz, Rheinhessen, Baden, Württemberg, Franken, Sachsen, Saale-Unstrut — are classically well-represented. Plus overseas: California (Napa, Sonoma, Paso Robles), Argentina (Mendoza), Chile, South Africa (Stellenbosch, Western Cape), Australia (Barossa, Margaret River), New Zealand (Marlborough, Central Otago). Growing segments: non-alcoholic wines, Orange Wines, Natural Wines, regenerative agriculture.

Themed Hubs and Program Highlights

ProWein 2026 structures its offerings into several themed hubs: ProSpirits brings together around 500 spirit exhibitors — Whisky, Gin, Rum, Vodka, Liqueurs, Mezcal. Champagne Lounge is the sanctuary for French sparkling wine houses. Organic World bundles certified organic producers. For the first time, the non-alcoholic world gets its own special area with the Zero Tasting Bar. The ProWein Agora is the lecture stage for trend discussions, and Masterclasses offer guided tastings with top sommeliers.

ProWein City Vibes — Düsseldorf Becomes the Wine Capital

A special feature of ProWein: the program extends beyond the exhibition halls. With ProWein City Vibes, the entire Düsseldorf city center opens up to the wine public — restaurants, bars, hotels, and catering establishments will offer special events, tastings, winemaker dinners, and pop-up bars starting Thursday, March 12, 2026. This extends the ProWein experience to a total of 6 days and transforms Düsseldorf into the world capital of wine culture for nearly a week.

Who Attends

ProWein is a trade-only event — admission only with a trade visitor ticket. Attendees include: Importers, wholesalers, retailers (wine boutiques and hypermarkets), sommeliers from restaurants and hotels, cruise lines, catering companies, online retailers, wine journalists, wine academies, sommelier schools, wine apps, and direct shippers. From all continents — well over half from abroad.

Location and Travel

Messe Düsseldorf is located in the Stockum district on the Rhine, northwest of Düsseldorf's city center. Public transport: U-Bahn lines U78 and U79 (routes Düsseldorf Hbf - Messe Ost) or bus line 722. By car: A 44 exit Messe/Arena, A 52 exit Messe-Nord. Düsseldorf Main Station: ICE hub in the German high-speed rail network. Düsseldorf Airport: 4 minutes by S-Bahn S 11 to Düsseldorf-Stockum. Hotel rooms in the city are extremely scarce during ProWein — early booking is recommended.
