ISTAF Indoor — The Düsseldorf Athletics Show

If you want to experience world-class athletics live in January without traveling to Glasgow or Boston, the ISTAF Indoor Düsseldorf offers the perfect opportunity. The international indoor meeting at the PSD BANK DOME has been Düsseldorf's sister event to the famous Berlin ISTAF (Internationales Stadionfest, since 1937) since 2018. In seven years, the Düsseldorf meeting has become one of the three most important German indoor athletics dates — alongside the German Indoor Championships and the Karlsruhe Indoor Meeting.

PSD BANK DOME — Düsseldorf's Major Arena

The venue is the PSD BANK DOME (formerly: Mitsubishi Electric Halle, later ISS Dome) — one of the largest multi-purpose arenas in Western Germany, with seating for around 13,000 spectators at concerts. For athletics, the hall is reconfigured: a 60m tartan track, high jump, pole vault, long jump, and shot put facilities are installed. The expected crowd of 7,600 spectators would be a record for an indoor athletics event in Düsseldorf — simultaneously demonstrating that German athletics continues to have significant public appeal.

The 2026 meeting will take place on Saturday, January 24, 2026. Classic indoor meeting format with afternoon and evening main sessions:

• Preliminary program: from 2:30 PM
• Main program: from 4:00 PM
• End: approx. 8:30 PM

Eight Disciplines — World-Class Program

Malaika Mihambo — Germany's Long Jump Queen

Malaika Mihambo is the most successful German track and field athlete of recent years. Olympic champion 2021, World champion 2019 and 2022, multiple European champion — Mihambo's career is one of the most glorious in recent German athletics history. Her appearance in Düsseldorf is one of the main attractions of every ISTAF Indoor meeting, and in 2026 she will once again be the star of the long jump competition.

Yemisi Ogunleye — Olympic Shot Put Champion

Yemisi Ogunleye is the 2024 Olympic Shot Put Champion. The German shot putter (born 1998) achieved a sensational victory with the gold medal at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games — and has since been one of the most sought-after athletes in German athletics. Her appearance in Düsseldorf brings another top star to the meeting.

Para-Sprint — Inclusion as Programmatic Element

With the Para-Sprint as a dedicated discipline, ISTAF Indoor Düsseldorf makes Paralympic athletics visible. Sprinters with disabilities compete against each other in classification categories — a deliberate inclusive program element that is not standard in German indoor meetings and earns high recognition from athletes and the public.
