Lörick — Düsseldorf's Left Rhine District

Lörick is one of Düsseldorf's districts on the left bank of the Rhine — part of District 4, along with Niederkassel, Heerdt, and Oberkassel. An affluent suburban district with a historical identity, shaped by the Schützen tradition: the St. Sebastianus Schützen-Bruderschaft Düsseldorf-Lörick has been the identity-forming club format of the district for centuries.

Four Days of Schützenfest 2026

From Friday, July 31 to Monday, August 3, 2026, the festival meadow in Lörick will transform into a classic Rhenish Schützenfest area. Four days with a festival tent, king's shooting, parade, and dance balls — a program that implements the classic structure of a Rhenish Schützenfest point by point.

Program Classics

• Friday, July 31, 2026 — Opening of the festival tent with a live band. Welcome of the reigning king and queen, festival evening.
• Saturday, August 1, 2026 — Club shooting in the morning. Marksmen's parade through Lörick in the afternoon. King's ball with a dance band in the evening.
• Sunday, August 2, 2026 — Festival service. King's shooting at the bird pole — new king is proclaimed. Morning pint, family program in the afternoon, festival ball in the evening.
• Monday, August 3, 2026 — Festival coffee, king's ceremony, traditional closing.

The Marksmen's Network District 4

Lörick belongs to a dense network of marksmen's clubs on the left bank of the Rhine — the St. Sebastianus Schützen-Bruderschaft Düsseldorf-Niederkassel, which acts as a partner fraternity in the region, often sends delegations to participate in the parade during the Lörick festival. This marksmen's neighborhood shapes the Düsseldorf marksmen's calendar on the left bank of the Rhine — from May to October, there is a Schützenfest almost every weekend somewhere.

St. Sebastianus — the Patron Saint of Marksmen

Saint Sebastian (died around 288 AD) is the patron saint of marksmen — his martyrdom by arrow attack (which he survived!) explains the symbolic significance. Marksmen's fraternities under the name St. Sebastianus are particularly widespread in the Rhineland and Westphalia — the Lörick fraternity joins a centuries-old tradition.
