770 Years of Pritzwalk — City Festival in the Prignitz
Pritzwalk, the central town in western Brandenburg in the Prignitz district, celebrates its 770th city anniversary in 2026. The town was first mentioned on July 23, 1256 — a reference date that few Brandenburg cities can surpass. The Pritzwalker Festtage in June 2026 bring together the most important program points of the anniversary year and are complemented by a star march with seven music bands already on April 25.
The Parade — City on the March
The highlight of the festival days is the grand parade on Saturday, June 13, starting at 12 PM. Around 60 floats, designed by local clubs, companies, schools, and citizens, will march through the city center. A mix of historical references (Pritzwalk's textile industry, Hanseatic era), club life (fire department, shooting guild, associations), and modern themes.
Alberti Funfair and After-Work Party
The Alberti showman family sets up their Kirmes (funfair) on the market square and adjacent locations — dodgems, carousels, trampolines, snack stands. Open from Friday 3 PM to 1 AM, Saturday 11 AM to 1 AM, Sunday 2 PM to 6 PM. Friday evening features the after-work party for adults, Saturday evening a live concert with the band “Zack Zillis”.
Pritzwalk and the Prignitz Region
The Prignitz, one of the most sparsely populated regions of Brandenburg, has its economic and cultural center in Pritzwalk. The festival days foster identity — and provide an occasion to meet again after years. For those already in the region: Karwe Castle, St. Nicholas Church Pritzwalk (Gothic brick building from the 13th century), Ludwigslust Park not far away.
