Lower Bavarian Volksfest with parade and vintage car meeting
The market town of Pfeffenhausen is located in the southern district of Landshut in Lower Bavaria, right in the middle of the Hallertau, the world's largest contiguous hop-growing region. With around 5,000 inhabitants, Pfeffenhausen is a classic market town with a vibrant club life and a close connection to Bavarian Volksfest tradition. The annual Volksfest is organized by the market itself and supported by local clubs.
The first day of the festival follows a traditional schedule: a concert in the square by the Rottenburg Town Band, a parade of clubs from the Maibaumplatz to the Volksfestplatz, and the ceremonial beer tapping by the mayor. This classic Lower Bavarian Volksfest dramaturgy attracts hundreds of onlookers from Pfeffenhausen and neighboring communities every year. The Rottenburg Town Band is one of the region's traditional brass bands and plays at the concert in the square every year.
The multi-day program offers something for every generation: on Saturday afternoon, the Seniors' Afternoon takes place in the festival tent with coffee and cake — an important social event for the market's older population. The highlight on the last day of the festival is the traditional flea market starting at 8 a.m., which attracts collectors and bargain hunters from all over the Hallertau, followed by a Frühschoppen (morning pint).
In 2026, the program will be expanded to include a vintage car meeting, according to the organizers — an increasingly popular addition to the classic Volksfest repertoire. A family day with reduced prices for rides, carousels, and food stalls completes the offering. The market town of Pfeffenhausen remains the organizer, and the festival tent will be managed by the local clubs as always.
From Thursday, May 21, to Saturday, May 23, 2026, the market town of Pfeffenhausen invites you to its Volksfest at the Maibaumplatz and Volksfestplatz. The festival opens with a concert in the square by the Rottenburg Town Band starting at 5:30 p.m., followed by the parade of clubs to the Volksfestplatz and the beer tapping ceremony by the mayor.
According to the organizers, the 2026 program includes a vintage car meeting, a family day with carousel discounts, and the usual festival catering with local delicacies. Detailed times will be published in spring 2026 at pfeffenhausen.de.
The final program and times will be announced by the market town of Pfeffenhausen a few weeks before the event.
