Four Advent Sundays in Prenzlauer Berg – around 60 organic stalls, fair trade, and sustainable gift ideas around Wörther Straße
The Adventsökomarkt at Kollwitzplatz has been a fixture in Berlin's pre-Christmas autumn – and has been for 1997. GRÜNE LIGA Berlin, the network of ecological movements, runs the market as a link between the year-round Thursday organic market at the same location and the Advent season. Over the years, the concept has grown without changing: exclusively organic and fair, no schnapps, mulled wine, or discounter stalls on the market grounds.
The stalls are lined up on Wörther Straße between Knaackstraße and Kollwitzstraße. The assortment is roughly divided into four areas: organic food (dairies from Brandenburg, Demeter farm shops, organic bakeries, beekeepers, Slow Food manufacturers), sustainable crafts (wood, ceramics, textiles, jewelry), fair trade gifts (world shops, GEPA assortments, Indian felt products), and pre-Christmas street food with organic bratwurst, vegan mulled wine, organic crêpes, and waffles.
Kollwitzplatz is one of Prenzlauer Berg's iconic squares: old buildings, cafés, a playground with a bronze sculpture by Käthe Kollwitz, and a year-round weekly market with an organic focus. The market attracts a predominantly local audience – families with children, regular customers of the weekly organic market, residents of the surrounding streets. It's more of a neighborhood festival than a tourist event, which is its special charm: people know each other, many exhibitors return every year.
A small children's carousel has been at the western end of the market in recent years, along with craft activities, hands-on stations, and sometimes performances by children's choirs or musicians. In recent years, GRÜNE LIGA has also focused on political issues, such as packaging waste, reusable systems, or upcycling – on the first Advent, there was a reusable day with the Bottleneck project for the creative recycling of glass bottles.
The 2026 edition continues the proven format of GRÜNE LIGA Berlin: four consecutive Advent Sundays, from 12 PM to 7 PM each day, at the same location as the year-round Thursday organic market. Around 60 stalls will be set up on Wörther Straße, exclusively featuring ecologically certified products and fair trade gifts. Programmatic focuses for 2026: Reusable instead of disposable, Bottleneck upcycling, vegan organic cuisine, Demeter manufacturers from Brandenburg.
The range includes organic food (cheese, wine, honey, bread, Slow Food specialties), sustainable crafts (ceramics, wooden toys, felt products), and fair trade gifts (GEPA, world shop items). Street food with organic bratwurst, vegan mulled wine, crêpes, and waffles. A small carousel for children.
