When the lights in the Stadtgarten turn on
On Friday, July 10, and Saturday, July 11, 2026, the city of Mosbach will open this year's season of the Mosbacher Sommer with the Lichterfest. In the Mosbacher Stadtgarten — the central city park of the Große Kreisstadt — light installations, illuminated sculptures, and art projects will be set up. The trees, paths, and water features of the park will transform into a world of experience made of light and shadow after dark.
The Kai Karle Band — the musical highlight
The musical highlight of the Lichterfest is the live concert by the Kai Karle Band. The group, led by German singer-songwriter Kai Karle, plays a mix of German rock-pop, jazz influences, and original compositions — a musical genre that perfectly suits the summer atmosphere in the Stadtgarten. The concert is part of the opening evening and included in the free admission.
The Mosbacher Sommer — a whole summer full of events
The Lichterfest is the kick-off of the Mosbacher Sommer — a festival series that shapes the city every summer with concerts, theater performances, readings, and exhibitions. Classic venues include the Marktplatz, the Stadtgarten, and the historic courtyards of the old town. Mosbach — half-timbered town in the Neckar-Odenwald
Mosbach, with around 23,000 inhabitants, is the capital of the Neckar-Odenwald district and is located on the edge of the Odenwald forest directly on the Neckar river. The city is primarily known for its excellently preserved half-timbered old town — one of the best-preserved half-timbered ensembles in Southern Germany. The Marktplatz with the Palm'sches Haus, the oldest private half-timbered house in Germany (dated 1610), is one of the most photographed cityscapes in Baden-Württemberg. The Lichterfest and the Mosbacher Sommer showcase this historic setting in a modern way.

Kick-off to the Mosbacher Sommer 2026
On Friday, July 10, and Saturday, July 11, 2026, the city of Mosbach will open the season of the Mosbacher Sommer with the Lichterfest. Getting there
By train: Mosbach (Baden) station is on the Heidelberg–Würzburg line. From the station, it's a 10-minute walk to the city center and the Stadtgarten. By car: A 6 exit Mosbach, then B 27 into the city. Parking available on the outskirts and in multi-story car parks in the city center.
