Sports Club as Festival Organizer
SK Fürnried 1978 e.V. is the central sports club of the municipality of Birgland, whose main town is Fürnried (district of Amberg-Sulzbach, Upper Palatinate, Bavaria). With football, hiking, Schafkopf, and folk dancing, the club cultivates several traditions – and bundles them annually in the four-day spring festival on the Silberberg. In 2026, the 26th edition of the meadow run is scheduled, underscoring the festival's long history.
The Birgland – Hidden Upper Palatinate
The Birgland is one of the most scenically characteristic areas of the southern Upper Palatinate: a high plateau between Sulzbach-Rosenberg and the Franconian Jura, crisscrossed by forests, meadows, and small villages. The Silberberg, where the festival grounds are located, is both a vantage point and the home of the sports field.

Hiking and Meadow Run
Thursday is hiking day – the 26th time in 2026. In recent editions, over 160 hikers participated in the route through the Birgland (Silberberg–Dollmannsberg–Nonnhof–Reichenunholden–Frechetsfeld–Fürnried). In parallel, the children's meadow run takes place, with over 300 children regularly participating. Trophies for the best hiking groups, catering at the festival site upon return.
