Ü30 Open-Air Hip Hop Festival at Zitadelle Spandau
Zitadelle Spandau, one of Europe's best-preserved Renaissance fortresses, is located in the far west of Berlin at the confluence of the Havel and Spree rivers. In summer, the central courtyard becomes an open-air stage, hosting the Citadel Music Festival with numerous concerts. One of the highlights of the series is Old but Gold — a festival day dedicated exclusively to hip hop classics from the 90s and early 2000s.
The festival has an unusual entry rule: admission only for visitors aged 30 and over — ID check at the entrance. This is the concept: Old but Gold targets the generation that grew up with 90s and 2000s hip hop, explicitly aiming to distance itself from Gen Z and young millennial crowds. Capacity is around 3,500 people, with approximately 8 hours of live acts on the main stage, plus separate DJ floors. Cash and card are accepted.
The festival day is divided into three areas: Main Floor with the major live acts; an Old-School R&B DJ floor with classic 90s and early 2000s sounds; a Dancehall and Afrobeats floor with more current sounds. Street food, bars, and chill-out areas accompany the day's schedule. The 2026 lineup features Busta Rhymes, KRS-One, Treach (Naughty by Nature), Ryan Leslie, Ginuwine, Shai, Shawn Desman, Onyx, and Queen Omega as headliners — an unusually strong US lineup for a European open-air event of this size.
Old but Gold 2026 celebrates hip hop classics from the 90s and early 2000s on July 11, 2026, within the historic setting of Zitadelle Spandau. From 1 PM to 11 PM, the festival day features a total of three floors: Main Floor with major live acts, Old-School R&B Floor, and Dancehall/Afrobeats Floor. Street food and bar areas accompany the day. Old but Gold is organized as its own format within the Citadel Music Festival.
Over 8 hours of live acts on the Main Floor, complemented by two DJ floors. Current lineup (officially confirmed):
