Seefest Rottach-Egern

The first of the three Tegernsee lake festivals

The Seefest Rottach-Egern opens the season of the three Tegernsee lake festivals every year — followed by the Seefest Tegernsee (second weekend of July) and the Seefest Bad Wiessee (third weekend of July). This makes Rottach-Egern the first festival date in the Tegernsee summer calendar and a must-attend event for the South Bavarian festival scene for decades.

The Seestraße becomes a festival mile

The venue is the Seestraße directly on the shore of Lake Tegern. The street becomes a pedestrian zone from late afternoon, with market stalls along the promenade offering Bavarian and international specialties. Traditional Bavarian brass music can be heard on several stages, complemented by alphorn players whose deep tones underscore the alpine flair of the event.

Fireworks over the lake

The highlight is the fireworks display around 10:15 PM. The special feature: The three Tegernsee lake festivals (Rottach-Egern, Tegernsee, Bad Wiessee) are musically coordinated — a joint concept between the three municipalities that stages the season as a cohesive event trio. Thousands of visitors watch the fireworks from the shore, many from boats directly on the lake.

Travel by train and bus instead of car

Arrival by car is extremely restricted on the festival day — parking in Rottach-Egern will be hardly possible. The organizers recommend the Bayerische Oberlandbahn (BOB) to Tegernsee station, then continue by RVO bus to Rottach-Egern. From 5 PM onwards, RVO buses and Tegernsee lake ferries run free of charge. A supervised bicycle parking facility at the Rottach-Egern school building completes the offer.

Rain date

In case of bad weather, the festival activities will be postponed to the following day. The reserve date period is Wednesday, July 8 to Friday, July 10, 2026.
