About Toy Fair
Toy Fair — edition 2026
The 75th edition of the Toy Fair was a historic anniversary year. From January 27th to 31st, 2026, the global toy industry gathered in Nuremberg, with visitor growth of 2.5 percent compared to the previous year and an exhibitor record that exceeded all expectations.
For the anniversary, there were a whole series of special installations: At the Mitte entrance, the Walk of Play welcomed visitors with the most important milestones in the fair's history since 1949. At the Ost entrance, Lego presented the 'Lego Botanical Pop-up Experience', and in the courtyard of the grounds, the Kosmos Exit Escape Bus awaited. Throughout the exhibition grounds: selfie spots, interactive stations, and music acts with exhibitor partners.

Practical information — Toy Fair

The Toy Fair is exclusively for trade visitors. Private individuals without industry affiliation are not admitted. Accreditation via the online portal of the Toy Fair for retailers, buyers, license partners, designers, and press representatives.
Getting There
By subway line U1 from the main train station to the Messe stop (~15 minutes). By car via A6 (Heilbronn–Nuremberg) exit Nürnberg-Langwasser or A9 (Munich–Nuremberg) exit Nürnberg-Süd. Parking garages directly at the exhibition center. By train to Nürnberg Hauptbahnhof (main station), then take the subway.
Tips
Hotels in Nuremberg are scarce and expensive during the trade fair week — book well in advance (ideally 6+ months before the fair starts), or consider staying in Fürth, Erlangen, Schwabach, or further out. Throughout the exhibition grounds, the daily updated directional signs and the digital fair app 'Spielwarenmesse' are indispensable.
The World's Leading Trade Fair for the Toy Industry
For 75 years, the Toy Fair in Nuremberg has shaped the global toy market. Trends are set here, licenses are concluded, new products are launched, and international sales contracts are negotiated. With over 2,300 exhibitors from 68 countries and around 59,000 trade visitors from 121 nations, it is the undisputed number one in its industry — where Lego, Schleich, Playmobil, Mattel, and Hasbro meet new indie board game publishers, Japanese anime licenses, and Chinese robotics startups.
A Nuremberg Tradition Since 1949
Founded in 1949, as the German toy industry was rebuilding from the ruins of World War II, the Nuremberg Toy Fair has accompanied the industry through all its phases: wooden toys in the 1950s, plastic in the 1960s, electronics in the 1970s, video games in the 1980s, the licensing boom of the 1990s, digital hybrid toys of the 2000s, app-controlled toys of the 2010s, and AI-driven toys of the 2020s. The organizer is Spielwarenmesse eG, a cooperative based in Nuremberg, which also operates international subsidiary trade fairs in Brazil, China, Russia, and the USA.
A Trade Fair — Not a Public Exhibition
Important to know: The Toy Fair is not open to the public. It is a purely B2B trade fair for the toy trade, buyers, media representatives, and licensees. Private visitors are not admitted. Those interested in toy trends should instead follow the popular press coverage that appears every year during the fair in Süddeutscher Zeitung, Spiegel, FAZ, and trade magazines like ToyToy or spielen.de.
NürnbergMesse as the Venue
The NürnbergMesse exhibition center in the Langwasser district is one of the most modern exhibition centers in Europe. The halls cover over 170,000 m² of exhibition space, complemented by conference centers and outdoor areas. In terms of transport, the exhibition center is directly connected to the subway (U1 line, Messe station) and the A6/A9 motorways. During the trade fair days, thousands of business travelers characterize the city's image — Nuremberg's hotels are traditionally fully booked at peak prices for several days during the trade fair.
