Fairy Tales, Trolls, and Viking Boats

The Nordic Fairy Tale Christmas at Gutshof Schloss Britz is one of Berlin's most unique Christmas markets. Instead of the usual row of stalls, the travelling theatre Cocolorus Budenzauber e.V. stages a complete theatre world on the historic courtyard: Viking boats to climb, theatre wagons, fairy tale tents, an open-air stage, a troll meadow – a setting between a medieval market and Nordic sagas.

Snow Queen and Mother Hulda

The Snow Queen with her trolls, Mother Hulda, and other beings from the Nordic fairy tale cosmos wander among the visitors. On the stages, puppet theatre, fairy tale readings, dance, acrobatics, and magic alternate. The highlight is the fire show in the early evening hours – when the Gutshof lies in darkness and the glow of the flames illuminates the castle's brick walls.

Four Advent Weekends

The Nordic Fairy Tale Christmas traditionally takes place on all four Advent weekends – Friday to Sunday each week. For 2026, the dates are approximately November 27–29, December 4–6, December 11–13, and December 18–20 (subject to confirmation by the Kulturstiftung). Opening hours are Fridays 2:00 PM–9:00 PM, Saturdays and Sundays 11:00 AM–9:00 PM. Admission: €5 regular, €2 reduced, children under 6 free.

For Children: Archery, Crossbow, Viking Boats

The event is explicitly aimed at families with children. There are play stations, a wooden water wheel, archery, crossbow, hands-on medieval crafts, and of course, the large Viking boats that can be climbed. Food and drink include mead, mulled wine, stick bread, sausages, and Nordic-inspired dishes.

Schloss Britz in the South of Berlin

Schloss Britz and its manor farm belong to the Neukölln district, Britz locality. The estate dates back to the 18th century and today houses the Kulturstiftung Schloss Britz, which offers a year-round cultural program – concerts, readings, family events, seasonal festivals. The Nordic Fairy Tale Christmas is one of the most popular events of the year.

Nordic Fairy Tale Christmas — edition 2026

In 2026, the Nordic Fairy Tale Christmas will take place as usual on all four Advent weekends at Gutshof Schloss Britz – Friday to Sunday each week. Staged by Cocolorus Budenzauber e.V., with the Snow Queen, trolls, puppet theatre, acrobatics, and fire show. Admission approx. €5, reduced €2, children under 6 free.

In 2026, the Nordic Fairy Tale Christmas will again unfold over the four Advent weekends at the Gutshof Schloss Britz. Provisional dates (subject to official confirmation by the Kulturstiftung): November 27–29, December 4–6, December 11–13, and December 18–20, 2026.
