Discover urban nature in Britz Castle Park — wild bees, trees, plant music
The Langer Tag der StadtNatur has been organised by the Stiftung Naturschutz Berlin (Berlin Nature Conservation Foundation) since 2007 — as an annual festival for urban nature in the capital. Hundreds of organisers — associations, initiatives, public institutions, palaces, and parks — open their gates and paths for a dense programme of guided tours, workshops, exhibitions, and performances. The festival bundles over 500 individual events over a weekend, making visible how many Berliners are committed to nature and gardening.
Britz Castle in the southern Neukölln district (Britz locality) is one of Berlin's most beautiful preserved country palaces. Built between 1706 and 1717 in the early Baroque style, it was later remodelled several times. Today it is a cultural centre, with an adjoining manor farm, castle park, and theatre barn. The park, shaped by landscape architect Peter Joseph Lenné, is one of the most beautiful designed Berlin parks and is the venue for several activities within the framework of the Langer Tag der StadtNatur.
In 2026, Schloss Britz will offer, among other things:
The Stiftung Naturschutz Berlin coordinates the festival city-wide. It is the central Berlin institution for nature conservation and finances its work through admission fees, donations, and public funds. Admission to the Langer Tag der StadtNatur is free everywhere — a deliberate political statement intended to guarantee low-threshold access to urban nature.
Britz in the Neukölln district was historically a Berlin garden city — the Hufeisensiedlung (UNESCO World Heritage site) is located right next door, as is the Britzer Garten (a city park created in 1985) and the nature reserves of the Buckower Felder. Those who spend the day in Britz can combine several nature sites within walking distance.
The 2026 edition traditionally falls on the last weekend of May. At Schloss & Gutshof Britz, nature activities are concentrated between 12 PM and 6 PM, with several guided tours, workshops, and the Kiezklang exhibition running in parallel.
Registration for workshops with limited participant numbers (especially for building wild bee nesting aids) is recommended via the platform langertagderstadtnatur.de. Admission to the Schloss Britz events is free, as is admission to all 500+ events of the festival city-wide.
