Citywide Garden Festival of the Berlin Gardeners' Association – Allotment culture, hands-on activities, and culinary delights on June 6, 2026, in Britz
With around 71,000 allotment gardens, Berlin is one of Germany's greenest major cities. The Berlin Gardeners' Association represents this community and hosts a central summer festival once a year: Berlin Garden Day. It aligns with the nationwide Garden Day, celebrated since 1984 on the second Sunday in June – in Berlin, the date is moved to a Saturday to involve as many city visitors as possible.
On Saturday, June 6, 2026, starting at 11:00 AM, Garden Day will take place at the KGA Britz on Buckower Damm – in the Britz district, Neukölln borough. The allotment garden complex is located between the Britzer Mühle and the Britzer Garten and is one of the largest and oldest allotment garden areas in the city.
Berlin's allotment garden complexes provide valuable green corridors, infiltration areas, and biodiversity islands within the city. They are also social spaces: around 250,000 Berliners are directly or indirectly connected to an allotment garden. Garden Day makes this often invisible contribution visible and invites the entire city to take a look.
Britz in the Neukölln borough is considered one of Berlin's greenest districts – with the Britzer Garten, Schloss Britz, and the historic Hufeisensiedlung (Horseshoe Estate), a UNESCO World Heritage site. The KGA Britz fits into this picture and, with its several hundred plots, is a small village on the outskirts of the city.
The 2026 Berlin Garden Day will take place on Saturday, June 6, 2026, starting at 11:00 AM at the KGA Britz on Buckower Damm – in the Britz district of Neukölln borough. The organizer is the Berlin Gardeners' Association, the umbrella organization for Berlin's allotment garden associations.
The festival is part of the nationwide Garden Day (second Sunday in June) and is conceived as an open meeting festival between allotment gardeners, politicians, environmental organizations, and the entire city community.
