The organizer is the St. Franziskus Schützenbruderschaft Petersdorf, a Catholic-influenced marksmen's club in the Petersdorf district of Bösel. The club follows the tradition of the historical brotherhoods of the Oldenburger Münsterland, which combine tradition, church affiliation, and village community life.
Course of the Schützenfest
The festival follows the classic course of a North German Schützenfest: King's and bird shooting to determine the new royal couple, festival service, festival parade through the village center with a marching band and club banners, as well as dance evenings in the festival tent with a live band and DJ. The focus is on the proclamation of the new dignitaries and the social gathering of the club members with their families.
