Ebermannstadt is a small town of 7,000 inhabitants in the Upper Franconian district of Forchheim (state of Bavaria), located in the heart of Franconian Switzerland on the Wiesent river. With its compact old town, the triangular market square, and the picturesque Wiesent bridge, it is considered the tourist center of the region — and thus an ideal location for a Christmas market that radiates beyond its own catchment area.

One of the Oldest Christmas Markets in Upper Franconia

The EBSer Weihnachtsmarkt celebrates its 37th edition in 2026 — a remarkably long history in Upper Franconia. Over the decades, the concept has hardly changed: a traditional Advent market with a high proportion of regional artisans and craftspeople, not a mass stall concept, but lovingly decorated wooden stalls.

Traffic Management

The market square will be completely closed to car traffic during event hours, with diversions via Rosengasse and Brauhausgasse. The compact size of the old town makes the Christmas market particularly pedestrian-friendly.
