The Historical Market Ebermannstadt will enter its 28th edition in 2026 – a tradition of almost three decades that has evolved from a small craft market into a fixed date on the Franconian event calendar. The venue is the "Unteres Scheunenviertel" (Lower Barn Quarter) at Kirchenwehr, a historically preserved district with rows of barns and the old city wall.

First-Hand Crafts

The market brings together artisans from Franconia and beyond. The offerings range from hand-turned wooden bowls to ceramics from regional pottery studios, forged metalwork, and jewelry to textiles, handmade soaps, and herbal mixtures. Unlike mass markets, each exhibitor sells their own work here – the market is a pilgrimage for lovers of handmade goods.

Sunday Shopping

On market day, the town center of Ebermannstadt opens for Sunday Shopping from 12:30 PM. This combines the traditional crafts of the Historical Market with the modern shopping experience. Local shops complement the offerings of the market exhibitors and attract day visitors from the Franconian Switzerland and the surrounding area of Bamberg.

Stadtradeln and Region

A special program item: The regional kick-off event for the "Stadtradeln" (Cycling for the City) campaign takes place in the Wiesentgarten beer garden – a nationwide initiative where municipalities collect as many cycling kilometers as possible over three weeks. This makes the market day the start of an active summer week in the city.

Ebermannstadt is located in the Forchheim district (AGS 09474) at the entrance to Franconian Switzerland – the well-known nature park and hiking landscape of Northern Bavaria with its karst rocks, castles, caves, and beer gardens. The town is easily accessible by train from Forchheim or Nuremberg and is a starting point for tours into the Wiesenttal valley.
