A Town Festival with Tradition

The town of Ebermannstadt has been hosting the Old Town Festival since the late 1970s. Over the decades, it has become a fixed date in the event calendar of Franconian Switzerland. With its 48th edition in 2026, the festival continues its long tradition and remains one of the largest community festivals in the Upper Franconian district of Forchheim.

Location: The Historic Old Town

The celebration takes place right in the middle of the town: on the market square with its historic facades and additionally on Kapellenplatz around the Marienkapelle. The compact old town of Ebermannstadt – the gateway to Franconian Switzerland – forms an atmospheric backdrop for the festival days.

Program and Music

The festival is traditionally opened by the mayor with the beer tapping ceremony, accompanied by a brass band. On the following days, cover bands, rock and party bands play, and on Sunday, there's a Bohemian brass band during the Frühschoppen. The finale usually features acoustic live music and a DJ program. Local clubs and restaurateurs provide culinary delights with Franconian specialties and regional beer.

Ebermannstadt and Franconian Switzerland

Ebermannstadt, with around 7,000 inhabitants, is considered the unofficial capital of Franconian Switzerland. The region in the north of Bavaria is known for its rocks, caves, castles, and the highest brewery density in the world. The Old Town Festival combines this regional identity with a convivial town festival character.
