The SommerSonnenwendeSuppensause 2026 will take place on Saturday and Sunday, June 20th–21st, starting at 6 PM each day in Huy-Neinstedt. Homemade soups, solstice campfire, live music from the region. Free admission.

The 2026 summer solstice festival follows the established concept of the Huy-Neinstedt district: two evenings on the village green, starting at 6 PM. The focus is on the soup table with homemade variations from the village, served with bread, drinks, and musical accompaniment. Later in the evening, the campfire will be lit — the actual solstice accent.

Getting There

By car via the B79 (Halberstadt–Wernigerode), exit Huy/Eilsdorf, then follow signs. By train to Halberstadt, then bus or taxi to Huy-Neinstedt. Parking available in the village.

Wordplay and Tradition

The name itself reveals the tone: SommerSonnenwendeSuppensause. A deliberately friendly and winking composition of solstice festival and "soup feast" — a culinarily accented summer festival celebrated on the longest day of the year in the district of Huy-Neinstedt. The municipality of Huy, together with the local heritage association, is the organizer.

The focus is on homemade soups from the village — from classic pea soup to cream of tomato soup, goulash, and vegetarian and vegan options. Everyone brings something, everyone tries. Huy-Neinstedt on the Edge of the Huy Forest

Huy-Neinstedt is located in the Harz district in the state of Saxony-Anhalt, on the southwestern edge of the Huy forest — a wooded ridge between Halberstadt and Wernigerode.
