Three days of Volksfest at Schlossplatz in Bauland-Odenwald — Tradition for over 30 years
Hardheim is a municipality in the northernmost part of Baden-Württemberg, in the Neckar-Odenwald district on the edge of the Bauland-Odenwald — the scenic and cultural transition zone between Swabia and Franconia. With just under 7,000 inhabitants, Hardheim is small, but its central market position (market rights since the Middle Ages) gives it a strong identity as a town-village. The annual Sommerfest at Schlossplatz has been celebrated for over 30 years — tradition and customs in a format that appeals to long-time Hardheim residents as much as to new inhabitants and day-trippers from surrounding communities.
Hardheim's Schlossplatz is the historic heart of the municipality — an open square with a connection to the former Hardheim Castle (partially preserved, partially rebuilt today). The location is ideal: accessible, close to the center, with ample space for festival structures and at the same time in close proximity to shops and restaurants. The main stage is erected on Schlossplatz, with inns, club kitchens, and activity areas spread around it. An ideal setting for a classic Volksfest.
The musical program focuses on live bands and dance formats — typically party bands, cover bands, brass music from local music clubs, and occasionally Schlager acts. Three festival evenings offer a stage for both younger generations (cover bands with current hits) and older regular guests (classic party music, Schlager hits). The local Hardheim clubs provide the catering: Maultaschen, Wurstsalat, Bratwurst, fries, Linsen mit Spätzle, homemade cake — and of course, regional beer and wine.
The Hardheim Sommerfest has a clear purpose: it is the central community gathering, the annual reunion for everyone who lives or has lived in the towns of Hardheim, Schweinberg, Bretzingen, Erftal-Rüdental, and Gerichtstetten. Those who move away from Hardheim often return for the Sommerfest. Family activities for children, hands-on events, face painting, occasionally a bouncy castle — it's all included. An atmosphere that large commercial events cannot offer. A typical Swabian-Franconian Sommerfest at its finest.
The Hardheim Sommerfest 2026 will take place from Friday, June 26th to Sunday, June 28th, 2026, at Schlossplatz. Three days of Volksfest in the tradition of the over 30-year-old festival. Organized by the municipality of Hardheim in cooperation with local clubs.
Highlights include: Live bands on the main stage, Swabian-Franconian catering by Hardheim's club kitchens (Maultaschen, Wurstsalat, Bratwurst, fries, Linsen mit Spätzle, homemade cake), regional beer and wine, activities for children and families.
