Three days of city centre festival under the motto "Together for Wittstock"
The Wittstock Town Festival has been the summer highlight of the Hanseatic city on the Dosse for years. From June 26th to 28th, 2026, it will transform the historic city centre around the Market Square into an open festival mile. The 2026 motto — "Together for Wittstock" — is not an empty word: the event brings together trade, associations, music bands, and citizens under one roof. The organisers are the City of Wittstock/Dosse together with the Mittelstandsvereinigung Wittstock e.V..
The event kicks off on Friday, June 26th, 2026, from 3 PM with Midsummer Night Shopping. Around 40 Wittstock shops will open their doors until 10 PM, offering special promotions, discounts, and live entertainment in the pedestrian zones. A fashion show will present the summer collections of local boutiques, and a raffle organised by the Mittelstandsvereinigung will offer prizes donated by participating shops. The evening extends into the night — Midsummer Night is the namesake.
Saturday, June 27th, 2026, is dedicated to the Wittstock associations. The city boasts over a hundred voluntary associations — from sports and carnival clubs to heritage societies and shooting guilds, as well as animal welfare and youth clubs. They will all present themselves on the market square on this day, with information stands, demonstrations, hands-on activities for children, and culinary offerings. It's the most straightforward way to get to know the association-based life of the Hanseatic city.
Sunday, June 28th, 2026, is a classic town festival day: from 10 AM to 4 PM, a flea market will take place on the market square, with brass bands and orchestras from the region playing concurrently. Registration for flea market stalls must be completed by June 6th, 2026, at the Wittstock Tourist Information Centre — spaces are usually snapped up quickly.
Wittstock/Dosse is located in the district of Ostprignitz-Ruppin, in the far northwest of Brandenburg. The city was a member of the Hanseatic League and has remarkably well-preserved its historic city centre — with the medieval city wall, the Gothic St. Mary's Church, and the Old Bishop's Palace, which today houses the Museum of the Thirty Years' War. The town festival unfolds against this very backdrop, using it as a natural stage.
