A night full of art and culture in Augsburg's city centre
The Long Night of Art is one of the most popular cultural events in the city of Augsburg in the Bavarian administrative district of Swabia. On one evening, around 50 venues in the city centre open their doors, offering over 200 programme items together. Museums, galleries, churches, theatres, and unusual locations become stages for art for one night.
The art night opens at 6 p.m. with a festive concert by the Augsburg Philharmonic Orchestra in St. Anna. Starting at 7 p.m., short programmes, usually lasting around 30 minutes, begin every fifteen minutes at various locations in the city centre. The spectrum ranges from music and literature to dance and theatre, as well as exhibitions and guided tours.
With an admission ticket, visitors can attend as many short programmes as they wish. Almost all of the city's museums are open and freely accessible with the Art Night ticket. The concept invites you to wander through the city all night long and discover new things.
Each edition is under its own theme, which shapes the programme design. In 2026, it will be "#übersinnlich" (supernatural/transcendent) and revolves around the mysterious, hidden, and ghostly. This gives each Long Night of Art its own thematic colour.
The Long Night of Art is embedded in Augsburg's City Summer and is one of the cultural highlights of the year in the Fuggerstadt. It combines Augsburg's rich cultural heritage with a contemporary, vibrant programme.
