A Neighborhood Becomes a Stage

The Theaterviertelfest is a public street festival in the heart of Augsburg's Theaterquartier. For two days, Ludwigstraße, Theaterplatz, Hofgarten, and the surrounding alleys transform into an open cultural space where music, performing arts, and urban life intertwine. The festival originated as an initiative to revitalize the neighborhood during the ongoing general renovation of the State Theatre and is now firmly anchored in the city's cultural calendar.

Program and Atmosphere

On several stages and at numerous venues, visitors can expect a diverse offering: pop concerts, theater excerpts, magic shows, and innovative VR worlds. The Augsburg State Theatre participates with production excerpts, workshop formats, and hands-on activities. A special feature is the »Parkhaus der Kunst« (Parking Garage of Art) – the parking garage on Ludwigstraße becomes a curated art space with large-scale installations, performance art, audiovisual art, and experimental music and theater formats.

Enjoyment and Sociability

Around thirteen bars and several restaurants in the neighborhood cater to culinary delights. A picnic area in the Fronhof invites visitors to linger, and food and drinks brought along are welcome. From midnight, after-show parties in the clubs of the Theaterquartier continue the program.
