Hafenschmaus Festival Fedderwardersiel — Culinary Diversity in the Crab Cutter Harbour

The Hafenschmaus Festival in Fedderwardersiel Harbour is one of the most original street food events on the Lower Saxony North Sea coast. The venue is the traditional Fedderwardersiel crab cutter harbour — one of the few remaining active fishing harbours in Lower Saxony and a landmark of the municipality of Butjadingen. From May 14 to 17, 2026, the harbour area will be transformed into a culinary and cultural experience mile for four days.

Street Food from Around the World

The focus is on the food truck offerings: street food from around the world — from Asian specialties and South American classics, burger and BBQ stands to vegetarian and vegan options. Regional providers with crabs, fish, North German tapas, and Wesermarsch specialties are also represented. The harbour with its moored crab cutters forms the unique backdrop.

Piano Mobile with Arndt Baeck

Musically, the 2026 festival promises a special highlight: the Piano Mobile with Arndt Baeck will perform on Friday and Saturday. The mobile piano stage — a piano on wheels — brings uncomplicated live music directly to the festival guests on the harbour quay. Classical and modern piano works alternate with improvisations.

Butjenter Blinkfüer Sea Shanty Choir on Sunday

Sunday is dedicated to the Butjenter Blinkfüer Sea Shanty Choir. With traditional sailor songs, the choir lends the harbour its very own maritime atmosphere, reflecting Fedderwardersiel's identity as an active crab cutter harbour.

Arts and Crafts and Children's Programme

On Friday and Saturday, an arts and crafts market will also be open. Maritime decorations, handmade jewellery, pictures, and nautical souvenirs complement the culinary offerings. Children's entertainment keeps the youngest guests happy with games, craft activities, and hands-on stations.

Free Admission

Admission is free. Food, drinks, and market goods are paid for on site. With the festival, Fedderwardersiel positions itself as a culinary destination on the North Sea — perfect for an extended day trip or as a highlight of a North Sea holiday.
